August 2011 - Last Day's of Summer & Back to School

This month began with Mia turning 3 years old on August 4th!  She is wonderful and we all love her so much.  Her party this year was just with the family.  It came at a busy time, while I was just finishing up summer finals - for a class that I took at Salt Lake Community College.  I promised to put together a friend party for her later in August, but it still has not come together yet, as September speeds around the corner.

Then, we went to Bear Lake the 2nd weekend in August to hang out with the Taylor cousins and celebrate Grandpa's 60th Birthday.  My dad was not easily convinced that now he's old.  It was fun spending time with everyone.  Playing at the beach and visiting Minnetonka Cave were some highlights.  I also made this fantastic crock pot lasagna - that luckily turned out since it was my first time following the recipe.  I did ride my bike 50 miles around the lake (by myself).  It was very relaxing and enjoyable and took me about 3 hours.  I rode around the same direction, starting out on the road north from CamperWorld - the same direction as the Bear Lake road race in May.  I had to ride that direction to see how it is to ride on a pleasant, non windy day.

Monday after we got back, Ellie started school - She's in 2nd Grade......Then, just today was Kara's first day of kindergarten.  Mia starts Pre-school next week.  I'm so thankful the kids have started school.  It will bring some much needed structure to our days at home ; )
